The long-term growth of your business is riding on way more than your next influx of sales.

By all means, give your attention to selling your work, but don't neglect the other bits.

A business with longevity NEEDS a high standard of service. It NEEDS a product suite with a point of difference. It NEEDS systems to make it whole thing work seamlessly.

It's bitch slap o'clock.

Considering that everyone likes to say they’re “anti hustle culture”, there still seems to be a lot of that energy floating around.

When you see your peers and mentors launching thing after thing, going live 3 times a week, posting multiple times a day and emailing everyone to death, it’s easy to think you’re not cut out for this life, because you could NEVER do that much without burning out and/or losing the will to live.

*Especially* if you hang around in coaching spaces where there are people “encouraging” you to power through, stop holding yourself back, stop playing small, step it up, etc, etc.

This is the reality:

We all have different health stories, different energy cycles, different real-life responsibilities, and different visions of the future.

Meaning that the amount of va-va-voom we’re willing and able to give our businesses differs, too.

Never let anybody tell you that moving slower or taking breaks is you sabotaging your growth or resisting success.

You are the EXPERT at understanding your own needs.

❌ You do not have to move at someone else’s pace.

❌ You do not have to implement a strategy that drains you, mind, body, and soul.

❌ You do not have to be in constant contact with the rest of the world.

❌ You do not have to be busy and productive 24/7.

You can honour your rest cycle - and take care of yourself properly - while still growing the business of your dreams... at your own pace.

That’s not to say “respecting your energy” is a permission slip to stick to your comfort zone at all times. Be discerning.

Push yourself when you feel equipped (and excited) to do so.

There is literally no point to anything you’re doing if your business is not sustainable...

and the key to that is making sure YOU are well rested and resourced.

Without you, there is no business. There’s just an old laptop and some post-its.

She sold 7 spots in less than a day without ever posting on social media!

When this client approached me to start working together, things were pretty decent. She had regular 1:1 bookings and was doing a great job juggling serving her clients and being a new (and single) mum.

She was very clear that she wanted her next coach to be someone she could trust to be on her side. She wanted someone who could hold space for her personal growth and spiritual work, as well as helping her with the strategic side of bringing her different ideas to life. She had all these (amazing) ideas for her business, from a big, juicy 12 month program to a series of in-person events, and more… but she wanted some hands-on support to make them happen without burning out or having to sacrifice time with her baby.

She mentioned how grateful she was that I never put any pressure on her. We’ve been in each other’s worlds for 2 years and for the entirety of that time, she’s known she would love to work with me 1:1. She loved that I didn’t push her to commit before she was ready.

Here's what we did during that first strategy session:

❤️We looked through her entire product suite, including all the offers that are still in the “idea phase”.

❤️I noticed immediately that she was missing a higher ticket offer that would feel like a “no-brainer” next step for the superfans, so we mapped out the full structure of that, including launch dates and pricing.

❤️We tightened up her mid and low ticket offers, looking at how upgrades and bundles could be incorporated to make her more sales on the back end.

❤️ We discussed her creating an intimate, in-person event before the end of the year to help nurture those superfans even more before the new programme drops (which has now completely sold out!)

The amazing results she's had in the past week have all been down to her.

I didn't have to tell her to take ownership of her own momentum.

In every single interaction she has asked for what she needed, she has owned and been willing to tackle her resistance head-on, she has trusted her own gut, and she has committed to taking immediate action.

Someone else‘s inability to support you properly is not a YOU problem.

When we choose to hire a coach it’s because we want:

💖Space to work out how to bring an idea to life successfully

💖Personalised feedback and suggestions, factoring in what we want to achieve and how we want to feel as we do

💖Someone to work with us on creating a business that is personally, professionally, and financially fulfilling

💖Support as we navigate the ups and downs of being in business

In the spirit of allowing this to happen, it’s your responsibility to show up, ask for what you need, and be open to even the most confronting feedback.

If you are doing that and still feeling unsupported - like you have to figure everything out alone, reexplain your business model on every single call, and constantly justify the decisions you‘ve made for your own business, it‘s time to cut your losses.

Just because you’ve made this investment does not mean you are obligated to “stay in the room”.

Yes, it might be an expensive lesson, but would you rather feel like you’ve lost some (replaceable) money, or that you’ve wasted 8 months of your life feeling bitter and frustrated?

It can take some time to grieve investment “mistakes“.

Don‘t beat yourself for that... just remember it doesn‘t have to last forever.

You deserve momentum.

You deserve success.

And you deserve support.
