Welcome to Episode 2.19 of Your Biz, Your Rules. In this show, I’m going to be sharing 5 ways that you can start having more fun with your marketing starting today…

Because I really do think that the marketing of your business can be a lighthearted creative outlet, rather than a source of stress and overwhelm.

1. Choose the formats and platforms you actually enjoy using

I have a few different reasons for this – the biggest reason being that if you enjoy the format or the platform, you’re more likely to actually do the thing and stick with it! And the most effective form of marketing is the one that you actually do.

So if you love writing, stick with written content. If you love going like and spontaneously going live, do that. If you love speaking to people but don’t love being on camera, podcasting might be for you.

If you love being on Facebook but hate Instagram, spend your time on Facebook (and vice versa).

Follow what you love to do, instead of getting bogged down with what is “effective” or what “works” because everything has the capacity to work, so you might as well do what you enjoy.

Resisting things that push you out of your comfort zone doesn’t fall into this category! You have to try something at least once to know whether you enjoy it or not.

2. Start collecting pieces you really enjoy

If you notice that there’s a particular type of post or email or whatever that you really enjoy, start saving them. This might look like saving screenshots or saving them in a file somewhere.

When you really like something and find yourself wanting more, that is really telling. And as you collect these things together you can start asking yourself what is it about that piece of content that made you open it/stop scrolling/read.

By answering these questions you can start to reverse engineer how to create this in your own business and create that reaction for yourself.

Creating things that you like is a gamechanger because when you like your own content, you will be so much more confident and magnetic and so much more willing to share it far and wide.

3. Create an event around your strategy and creation time so it doesn’t feel like pure effort

This is less tactical and more energetic.

This might look like creating a ritual for yourself where you put on a particular playlist or use a particular candle. Spend a few minutes brainstorming ways that you can make your content creation feel a bit more pleasurable and enjoyable.

What would make the process feel more fun for you?

4. Use tools and templates to make it all a bit easier on you

We often see image templates floating around online and we’re very comfortable with using these but you can do the same with other types of content e.g. written content, video content, etc.

You can create your own templates which will make sticking with that type of content and creating it, so much easier.

A really great example that I like to use for this is my weekly newsletter, Warrior Vibes. I use a very clear template for these emails – I’m just filling in the blanks on a structure that already exists.

5. Consider batching

Consider batching, so you don’t always have to have it in the back of your mind that you should be creating more – what if you could think about your content once a month instead of once or twice a day?

This is where the Batch Like a Bitch system was born – I originally created it because I wanted to help people create 90-days worth of content ahead of time so that they could take the summer off.

Imagine if you could actually have fun creating the stuff that you enjoy, and take 3 months off from marketing.

Your Challenge

Your action step for today is to share an IG Story declaring which of these tips you’re going to start implementing from now on… and if you kind of like the sound of all of them, come join us for the next live round of Batch Like a Bitch. I’ll show you how!

Next week I’m going to be sharing a handful of time-saving tips for the business obsessed – I’ll see you there!
