Show notes:

Welcome to episode 2.17 of Your Biz, Your Rules. In this show, I’m going to be diving into the topic of ideas, specifically new product ideas in your business.

It’s perfectly natural to feel stuck every now and again.

To feel like you need to choose what you do next, without really being clear on what you want to do!

Or like there are formats you “should” be using because they work, or topics you should be focusing on because they’re on trend, and you’ve seen them work for other people in your field…

But this is your reminder that you don’t need to constantly seek out something new, in order to make moves in your business, in order to grow your business.

In fact, sometimes looking backwards can be the smartest thing you can do.

There are a few different ways to do this.

1. Look at the products and services you are currently offering, or have just completed.

Let’s say you have a group course or program that you’ve just come to the end of – give that product a little bit of your attention.

Ask yourself:

  • Could you run them again?
  • Could you repackage them somehow? If you ran it live can you reuse the recordings.
  • Perhaps you could do a flash sale on a self study version?

If you like the idea of that, but aren’t sure where to start, my friend Lizzy has a really great course that will walk you through a profitable flash sale, in a very easy peasy way. You can check it out here.

2. Flip back through old journals and notebooks.

As you know, I’m a big fan of journaling, and I also take prolific notes whenever I read non-fiction, take a course, or do any sort of personal development work. This means that I have stacks and stacks of notebooks brimming with content!

Flipping back through these pages of notes, I often find a wealth of new ideas for both paid products and free content – I highly recommend giving it a go!

3. Revisit the work you used to do.

If you’ve been in business for a while now, I can guarantee that there are things you’ve offered in the past that you no longer even think about. I know that’s the case for me!

Take a look at some of those gems and ask yourself:

  • Are any of them still relevant?
  • Could any of them be updated and offered to the world again?
  • Could anything be reformatted or repackaged?

One really simple idea might be to take the content of a meaty blog post or freebie you’ve created and turn it into a paid workshop. So you would be taking the content, restructuring it, and putting it back out there into the world. I have a really simple training that will help you do this that you can find here. It’s such a simple way of creating a new income stream.

Another idea is to look at something you offered live in the past, and update it so you can run it again. I’m actually in the process of doing this myself right now.

Back in 2018 I started running a 5 day bootcamp, Batch Like a Bitch, that walked people through creating 90 days worth of content in just 5 days. As you can imagine, it was pretty intense! I ran it for the last time late 2019, and since then I’ve definitely changed the way I do things.

I still love batching, but the way I do it now is much less stressful than it used to be. I’ve burnout-proofed my systems, and created a whole bunch of new templates and resources to make it even easier on myself. Some of those are “tactical” resources, some of them are more energetic and mindset focused.

After taking stock of all my old creations, I’ve decided I want to bring Batch Like a Bitch back, but with some considerable changes. For starters, it will be spread over 30 days instead of 5 days, so everyone has plenty of time to take in the training and get the support they need as they implement. I’m also prerecording everything, instead of doing every element live, so everyone has the choice to binge watch everything in one go or pace themselves or revisit things as and when they need.

I’m adding in productivity sprints, for those who need accountability, and hot seat sessions for those who need more hands on support. There will also be a visibility swag bag containing some of my best tapping scripts, hypnosis audios, and bonuses to help amp up your confidence and willingness to be seen.

It’s a far cry from what it used to be, but the core idea hasn’t changed.

And that’s the point I’m trying to get across. You can mine your old work for gems, and layer on everything you’ve learned or honed since. The product you end up with will be straight up magical!

Next week, I’m diving into one of the topics I get asked about most frequently – how to create more down time as a business owner.

Your Challenge

I’m giving you a choice of 2 action steps today:

  1. Come and join us for the new and improved edition of Batch Like a Bitch
  2. Run with one of these three tips to come up with the idea for your next offer. I would love it if you dropped into my DMs to share it with me.
