Welcome to episode 2.07 of Your Biz, Your Rules. I know last week I said that this episode was going to be all about what lets most coaches and healers down but… I changed my mind. If you were looking forward to my little rant, don’t worry, I will record that one at some point, but today something else felt a bit more pressing.
Clarity – I’ve heard a few people describe themselves as feeling a bit foggy or a bit unsure or a bit torn or uncertain recently, so I thought I’d share 3 of my very favourite ways to find clarity for real.
First of all, I want to make it clear that what I’m going to share are practices that will help you get clarity now, but also whenever you need it again in the future, whether you’re struggling with business, or something more life-related.
I am not going to be giving you basic bitch business advice that promises clarity but delivers a superficial bandage that makes you feel like you’re “on it” when in reality, you’re not!
We are NOT going to talk about doing market research. We are NOT going to talk about learning more about your ideal client avatar. We are NOT going to talk about cyberstalking the competition or any of the other draining nonsense you’ve been told will help you get clear on your next steps
Anyway, before I get fully up on that soapbox, let’s get down to business, shall we?
Journaling
So the first practice that will help you gain clarity – and this won’t come as a surprise to anyone – is journaling. I LOVE journaling! It’s something that I really notice when it’s absent so, for me, it’s a daily practice.
And there are two ways that journaling helps me to gain more clarity:
- Morning pages – This is something that I learnt about from The Artist’s Way – you free write three pages in your journal in the morning. The reason that I find this so helpful is that it allows me to clear my mind and work through my tangle of thoughts. It allows me to get all of my thoughts and feelings onto paper!
- Using prompts – there are SO many propmts out there on the internet but the reason that I love to use journal prompts is that they help you get a bit more focused and intentional about your journaling practice. I have a whole year’s worth of prompts in Unshakeable Journaling 365 that you can check out. When I’m using prompts, I like to set myself a timer of 10 minutes to think and journal on the prompt – this really pushes me to think and journal deeper on the prompt or question.
Breathwork
The second practice is breathwork.
I mentioned Breathwork in Episode 2.05 where I was talking about managing your mind, time and energy in 2022.
Breathwork is a powerful method of energetic clearing that allows you to release some of the dramas, emotions, limitations you’ve been carrying around with you, and also make space to claim what you want instead.
One of my favourite things about breathwork is that you don’t have to be consciously aware of what’s holding you back, it still works its magic.
Hypnotherapy
And then last but not least, let’s talk about hypnotherapy.
Hypnosis gets a pretty bad name because we see things like stage hypnosis, TV hypnosis, etc. where people are made to do weird things that are out of their control.
That’s not how it really works. You’re never at the mercy of someone else. It’s a cocreative process between you and your hypnotherapist that allows you to rewire any of the beliefs or patterns you’ve adopted that no longer serve you.
Hypnotherapy really is a powerful tool for releasing things that are holding you back and making space to call in what you really want (like breathwork)
Final thoughts:
So to recap, the three potent practices I use personally and with my clients to get more clarity are journaling, breathwork, and hypnotherapy. Individually, they work wonders. Can you imagine if you combined all three?
