I have a confession to make… for the longest time, my brand has been a cobbled together shit show. I’ve DIY’d every bit of it, and it shows.

In this episode, we’re digging into all thing BRANDING, with brand coach Deborah O’Grady. She’s talking us through some of the biggest mistakes she sees small business owners make with their personal brands and how to go about fixing them.

She’s also sharing some tips to help stop us getting bored with our brands, so if I’ve got any other Geminis out there, this one’s for you!

The key takeaways:

💛 There’s a lot of conflicting information about “branding” online. It’s a word that’s used far too flippantly. To put it simply, a brand is made up of the words and pictures that convey the essence of your brand. So yes, brand photography, logos, graphics, they’re important, but so is the messaging. Where do you sit in the market? How do people buy from you? It’s about visuals AND voice – you can’t have one without the other!

💛 A really common problem for online business owners is the Frankenstein brand. This happens when a brand evolves over time with lots of tweaks taking place, rather than a proper rebrand or reposition. This often happens when the business owner gets bored with their offers or their messaging, and results in your audience getting confused.

💛 You can create some really fun campaigns but your brand should be solid, based on your services, your clients and your true essence.

💛 There’s so much rubbish out there on finding your ideal client but it’s actually really simple. What’s the main pain point your business can resolve for them, and what’s going to motivate them to buy from you?
